Figurative Language:

As the story proceeds forward, the theme is now fully in motion. The theme is obviously mystery and the following of a murder case. Now that they have already gotten one tip off from Charlie Pope himself, that has brought them hot on his trail, or somewhat. Since they have now begun to narrow down where the next murder could be occurring they're getting more and more confused and less help. But after Ruffe Igance receives yet another call from Mr. Pope they are now red hot on the trail. They now know that name of the new victim as well as the approximate area of where his new murder will be.
